Reminders from Roleen: “It’s Thursday”

It’s Thursday, October 31st, 2013, and here’s what we’ve got coming up:

Today:  It was another successful Halloween Parade.  It’s always a sweet community event and the children really charm us.  Thanks for supporting our process.  It’s because of you that everything went as planned.  Trying to maintain some sense of routine and predictability at a time when things are crazy isn’t easy but the children did very well.  Munching on pizza as we speak!
Sat., Nov. 3rd:  We return to Pacific Standard Time so make sure you set your clocks back an hour.  Remember, too, that the day will be getting darker sooner and it is very confusing to the children.  Click ‘more’ to get informed…We will be talking about the time being the same but it will feel like mom and dad are late because it will be getting darker sooner.  It’s confusing but we’ll be walking everyone through it.
Tues., Nov. 5th:  EW Parent-Teacher conference begin.  Look for scheduled times near the sign in and out sheet.  If those times don’t work, be sure you let your teachers know so we can coordinate times that work better for you.
Tues., Nov. 5th:  Mind in the Making presentation here at NSW.  6:30 to 8:30.  Evelyn will be here for child care for NSW families.  Limited spaces.  $10 per child, $5 per sibling to go directly to her.  We are opening this up to the public so you can invite your friends.  Their $25 fee goes directly toward the Teachers’ Professional Development fund.  NSW families are free.
Fri., Nov. 8th:  Early pick up day.  School closed at 12:15.
Mon., Nov. 11th:  School Closed for Veteran’s Day
Wed. Nov. 13th:  Wine with Roleen from 7 to 9.  Host TBA.  It’s the same forum as the Coffees but it’s at night.
Tues., Nov. 19th:   Thanks for Kate Ainslie, Can Do Kids will be here to present information about Sensory Integration.  7 to 8.  Email Kris at kris@newschoolwest.com to let us know if you are coming.  We are opening this to some colleagues and we want to have enough chairs.
Tues., Nov. 26th:  Thanksgiving Feast for the children only.  We will keep you posted as plans progress.
Wed., Nov. 27: Happy Hanukkah
Thurs., Nov. 28th, 29th:  Thanksgiving break.  School is closed
Fri., Nov. 29th:  Kids Day Out.  Teachers will keep you posted as to times.  Look for signs on the door.

Wed., Dec. 11th:  EW Holiday Party.  6:30 to 8
Thurs., Dec. 12th:   Special Friends Holiday Sing.  3:30 to 4:30.  We offer this time for those grandparents, family members, nannies, etc. to come and see the children from both EW and WW.  Our evening holiday parties are just for immediate family.
