What’s happening in the Front Yard?

We were given a pot of herbs as a gift from Jody Labb before the holiday break.  To make sure they survived, Kris and the kids divided them and repotted them after mixing dirt and water, scouting out an unused pot, and deciding what seeds to add for flowers.

Lua and Cookie added poppy seeds to the strawberry pot after planting the herbs.

Cookie was patting each seed hole after Lua had planted the seeds.

Kris asked "why are you patting the seeds?"

Cookie answered "to tuck them in tight."

Looking to the future, we have plans to place the raised beds on Venice that Kris and Tracy (Emick's mom) worked on next week.  With Blue's parents contribution of home grown compost, thank you to Michelle and Phil, they will be the beginnings of a rich first impression of our little school out there on Venice.

More work in the garden

After the break, Yoli noticed that the lemon tree, a gift from a graduate, Will Pinder (Sam Pinder's brother and Sara, their mom), was ready for picking.

Micah sang out "picking lemons from our lemon tree" as he worked.

Nico polished lemons for our basket on the entrance table.

The 'fruit basket' is lovingly placed and  awaiting your participation in our lemon production.  We wonder what you will use them for?

Feel free to respond to this post with your comments if you've used a lemon from NSW!
