Reflections and Imagery from Parents Day

Grounded. The children are on solid footing standing on comfortable traditions and rituals. As are their parents.

You all found a big piece of dirt, smoothed it out, packed it down and invited the kids to build up and out!       Buddy (Maeve’s dad)

“I vividly recall our introduction to NSW at the Parent Orientation a year ago.  We met all of the other parents in our same boat, sending our kids to their first year of school with eager but nervous anticipation.  You described in colorful detail all of the new experiences they would enjoy and the friends that they would make.  West Wing Parent’s day was a great culmination to their first year of school and helped to crystalize our family’s place in the NSW community.”  Matt (Alice’s and Mason’s dad)

Today was beyond amazing. The way you showcase the children’s work and share it with such enthusiasm and pride for their dedicated efforts brought tears to our eyes! Thank you for all you do to make children feel valued, heard, and important. What I’ve learned is that the children’s work is so much more than  “funny” and “cute” and though we are charmed by their words, we have to see them as they see themselves. . . strong and capable.  If we listen, they will continue to teach us. Sarah (Henry’s mom)

It was so nice to just hang out and watch our kids in their second home. We’re always in such a rush, it felt great to slow down for an hour and just be present. Thank you for creating this morning tradition and for creating this magical preschool.

Tamy (Willow’s mom)

Parents Day was amazing. This was our third one. This year I really felt like a guest in their home and I could feel Lucy consciously hosting.  They are really growing up. Noticing details.  Paying attention to the details.  Sigh. I can’t believe it is almost time to move out of the home we have had for the last three years.  Tears.   Pia (Lucy R.’s mom)

Thank YOU for Parents’ Day!! We had such a great time!  Maeve asked me if I would like some fresh OJ and I said sure and that I could help her make it.  She replied, “No, Mommy, this is Parent’s Day and we are taking care of you today”.  It was the best OJ I’ve ever had!!! Thanks again for all you have done for us.
