The children enjoy constructing and interacting in the Building Space. The hollow blocks and unit blocks are new additions to the space to enhance the development of their building and problem solving skills as they work to construct sturdy structures that symbolically represent their ideas.
The teachers are observing new relationships and some wonderful cooperative play interactions among the children as they work together to build their creations.

Kai: “This is my house.”
Max: “This is my unusual house.”
Kai: “Pretend someone wants to come to the house.”
Max: “And have a play date.”
Julian and Jackson shared their ideas and planned how they could build a new “outer spaceship.” They discussed the operations of the spaceship and how they could enhance their structure.
Other children have also shown interest in building objects that fly: rocket ships, jets, and helicopters have been constructed to support their dramatic play themes of taking trips to outer space.
