After the children wake up from nap and take care of their materials, it’s become part of their routine to spend time with the turtles. Today, as a small group of children were observing the turtles, they noticed Morla was acting unusually – she was trying to swim to the surface of the water and then she began to sink to the bottom on the tank. The children immediately called the teachers, and after observing her, Jessica took her out of the tank and placed her inside a container. She took Morla to the front yard, where a large group of West Wing children continued to observe her. During afternoon circle, we shared the information, and the children had an opportunity to share their observations and their feelings. While the children were at circle, Jessica called the veterinarian, and they suggested we keep Morla isolated and try to feed her. Jessica plans on taking her in tomorrow morning, and we’ll update the children once we have more information from the vet. They might share this information with you, as they might be processing it.
