He has taken one pot of mixed paint from the shelf, loads a clean brush, paints, then washes and dries his brush before returning the color and choosing another. While doing this, he notices that his wash water is cloudy. (password is ‘venice1987’)

He follows through with Josephine’s suggestion of dumping the water in the sink (traditionally a NSW system).

He then continues to exchange paint colors and painting carefully.  He keeps the paints clean by washing his brush and refilling his wash water from the watering can (the one he moved to a safer spot earlier).

While Josephine has been at New School-West for over a year, Emilio has been here for two months. The scaffolding of systems between the two creates a community of care for the environment that helps children to see themselves as responsible and capable. -Kristin
