Hopefully you were able to join us for Cindy, Paola and Stuart’s fascinating and enlightening presentation on SOUND that took place on February 18. If not, here are some comments from parents and a brief recap.

After much research and experimentation, these three dedicated educators provided the parents with insight into our children’s exploration through the world of Sound. You can still see the video “teaser” located in the February archives on the blog.

It was great to get a realized example of Reggio in action! I didn’t know that Sound was the most impressionable! Loved it!

It was eye opening to really see in detail what they’re doing behind the scenes. It gave me ideas for what to do at home to support Austin.

So happy my daughter goes to NSW! It was excellent! The teachers were so prepared and effective conveying their thoughts about why they do what they do, and how they are doing it! The parallel process of the children’s exploration, which prompted the teachers, and their further exploration and theory making, fascinated me.
-Elaine (Isabelle, EW)

The process is fascinating! I was impressed by how thorough the investigation was!

We loved the presentation. It's great to see what the teachers are doing — and it gave us new things to discuss with our kids about what's going on at school. We've been doing a lot of thinking about sounds lately and looking more closely at the sounds that our kids enjoy and also those that scare them. The presentation was a great springboard for discussion at our house. We really enjoyed being together with the teachers and other parents. Presentations, like these confirm for us that NSW is a really special place and we're so glad our kids can spend a few years there!
-Jill (Luca, EW and Maddox, WW)

It was a great presentation on a topic I knew little about, it opened my ears to the idea of how "soundscape" affects, influences, challenges our children’s way of thinking and play. Loved the video snippets of children exploring sound! The one of Blue was really delightful.
