Last Wednesday was our Parent Participation Night and it proved to be, once again, a most important gathering that had us working together to sign up for Teams. It’s also a time to learn about the inner workings of NSW and what true involvement (beyond volunteering) is all about. Melinda (Ephy, WW) presented and closed us out with a request for what was appreciated and what we regretted:
Eric (Leo & Coco, EW): I appreciate the parents who go that extra mile and who are miles ahead of what I do. I’d like to know who you are. I think there’s a group of super parents that do all this work and my regret is that I don’t recognize all of you and I didn’t meet all of you. I want to meet you this year!
Heather (Estelle, EW): I’m having a hard time signing up helpers for the spring fundraiser. It’s a ’70’s theme’ in honor of Roleen’s 70th birthday.
Teacher Adriana: It’s an important year for fundraising because the whole staff is going to Italy to study with Reggio Children this year.
Jennifer (Fiona, EW): I like that there’s a lot of variety to use our strengths to contribute.
April (Mehana, WW): I appreciate the overall framework of welcoming, warmth, and quality. I’ve enjoyed everyone I’ve talked to so far. No regrets yet.
Kenette (Lola, EW): I truly appreciate teachers here. I’m always trying to run and grab as quickly as possible and it’s really amazing when I stop and listen to what my child experiences here. It’s always amazing, always great. One thing I do regret/take back, I don’t really have the opportunity to see it myself. (Join the Documentation Committee! Someone yelled)
Tom (Paisley, EW) The teachers are so invested here. Every opportunity I have I am surprised how amazing they are and how invested they are in every student. That’s something we all share. We’re very lucky that our kids experience such a supportive community.
