“I’m having a happy day!” – Olivia

Last week, Jen and I had prepared some fun activities for the children to work on in the communication and exploration spaces during our rain storm. We noticed that the rain wasn’t falling that hard so we opened up the idea of playing in the rain. Oh! the looks on their faces! Their eyes widened and their smiles spread. “Rain, rain!” The majority of them shouted and raincoats, rain jackets, and some galoshes were found and we went out.

Olivia: I’m having a happy day!

Will: I went out and splashed in the puddles up and up!!

Lucy L. : Splash, splash!

Aliana: Ah! I splashed it in my socks!

The children keep looking up, hoping for more rainy days in the upcoming weeks. They truly enjoyed jumping in the puddles and getting soaking wet.  Most important was the idea that a little wet weather is not something to hide from, but something to celebrate in our unusual climate.  -Teacher Flora
