“Maybe you’ll think of me.”-Payton

At afternoon circle last Thursday, Georgia made an announcement to the children that had been shared with the staff previously:

Georgia: I am moving to a new school. I will have new kids.

Roleen: Will you take pictures of your new school?

Georgia: Uh-huh.

Julian, remembering his recent move to NSW: This is my new school.

Sam: When is Georgia going to move there?

Teacher Paola: Today is her last day at NSW. Tomorrow she is going to visit her new school.

Georgia: I’m just going to check it out tomorrow…where it is…what it looks like.

Paola: You know you can visit us?

Payton: Maybe you’ll think of me.

Maddox: What days is she going to her new school?

Paola: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

Flora: If you are thinking about Georgia, you can make her something at your appointment and give it to her today.

Miles and Dashiell wanted to create something out of wire for Georgia at appointment time.

Miles: Georgia will like this.

When they finished their wire work, Miles and Dashiell were ready to present their creation to Georgia. They proudly walked over to her at the snack table and looked on as a she admired their work.

Georgia started her first day at 1st Presbyterian Preschool last Friday. Her mother reports that “At home she often sings a NSW morning greeting song to her princess, stuffed animal and baby/Barbie collection …. ‘hello Griffin, how are you? and who is next to you?’ She goes through each NSW friend’s name- then she breaks into another NSW favorite:  ‘Here comes Uncle Jessie’…..!’ We miss all of our friends (and teachers) and plan to stay in touch.  we hope you will do the same.” -Vickie (Georgia’s mom)

In order to continue a dialogue between the children of NSW and Georgia, the teachers offered to use our friend and mentor from 1st Presbyterian, Flor Ferro as a mail carrier between the two schools. Flor comes to NSW every friday to mentor the teachers and helps us develop documentation. There is also an interest in mailing items to Georgia via the Post Office.
