Last week at our afternoon meeting in the West Wing, Jen introduced our “Next Steps” board. The plan for introducing the board was to inform the children of upcoming transitions in classrooms and to process that Indie‘s next step will be Beethoven Elementary. Jen asked the group if they wanted to share with Indie.
Luca: I love you.
Juliet: I love you.
Sawyer: I wish you have lots of Legos and I love you.
Aliana: I want you to come to my house and we can play.
Quinn: You can come to my house.
Barrett: I love you.
Kirby: I love you.
Ephy: I want you to come to my house and have a play date with me.
Silvana: I really enjoyed the dance parties, making dinners and having feasts in the house area.
Cynthia: I will always remember our special hugs too, Indie. I love your cuddles.
Jen: My favorite thing about you is that every time you came to school every day you always said: ” Hi Jen! ” And I would find you and we gave each other a hug.
Flora: I love our fun times in the sand area. Climbing on the structure and going down the slide.
Zoe: Why are you leaving?
Indie: Because I’m going to go to my new school.
Jen: Indie, who are some of the people your invisible string feels connected to?
Indie: Eli.
The children’s comments for Indie reflect a desire to maintain this relationship. This week, images of Indie and note-making materials will be available at the Communication Center. We know a continuation of this friendship is possible because Levi, Indie‘s brother, begins at NSW this fall and relationships are what we are all about! So, we are not saying ‘goodbye’ but ‘see you later’ from everyone at NSW: Silvana, Jen, Flora, Cynthia, Cindy, Amy, Katherine, Wendy, Roxanne, Evelyn, Jessica, Susan, Adriana, Katy, Kris and Roleen!
