In addition to regular hand-washing and health precautions, we are also regularly cleaning and disinfecting our environment at school.
As of August 2020, we have installed a new cleaning and disinfecting system at The New School – West that was introduced to us by Jordan Osborn (Dillon 2020, Mason 2022).
Due to the increase of cleaning and disinfecting on a daily basis at NSW we have decided to keep in line with our principles and provide a potent yet non-toxic, non-irritating, eco-friendly disinfectant for the children, teachers and our environment.
Hypochlorous acid is on the EPA’s list of approved disinfectants against SARS – CoV-2 the cause of COVID-19.
This technology is being used in hospitals, schools, businesses and homes.
Hypochlorous acid:
-200x more powerful than bleach – BUT does NOT harm human tissue (non-irritating)
-It kills every known bacteria, viruses and spores, attacking the germs, not the skin
-It is an antimicrobial, biocide solution that inactivates pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, spores and fungi.
-Bacteria cannot develop resistance to it. In scientific tests, it has killed every pathogen (virus, bacteria, fungus, mold, etc) which it has been scientifically tested against.
-It is naturally produced in our bodies by our white blood cells and is an essential part of our immune system.
-Powerful for wound care
-It sterilizes and initiates the clotting response
-It is 100% safe and non-irritant. Safe for your skin or your eyes. Even if it were accidentally ingested, it is completely harmless. Yet, it is 70-80 times more efficient at killing microbial pathogens than chlorine bleach.
To reiterate … it is so safe, you can mouthwash with it.
The use of harsh chemicals can have a huge impact on the long term health of our children and teachers. In using hypochlorous acid sanitizing water, we are killing all the bad bugs yet keeping the integrity of our overall well being.
This provides the safest environment to disinfect without harming our health.
