OVF report

I LOVE SPRING!!!  Every plot at Ocean View Farms is pregnant with flowers, leaves and promise.

In our plot, we are enjoying amazing lettuce that Kris and the children planted.  I believe it's a red Romaine and it's broad leaves are expanding and filled with the most amazing dark red and green speckles.  We will be picking some of the lettuce over the next week and bringing it into the school.  Look for it.

The celery is proving a steady but slow grower.  I was hoping for faster results, but that's gardening for you.

The broccoli was picked and taken to school and shown to the children.  More buds are growing, but sadly we are coming to the end of the broccoli.

In an impatient moment I pulled up an onion out of the ground to see how they were coming and was disappointed to see that it had not become round and bulbous, but rather it was a small, nut size.  Hmm…will have to research how to correct that before it's too late.  I left the rest and hope that they start behaving.

Kris visited the plot with Paola and Jaclyn and Ryan Schatzow (WW) this past Friday and had a wonderfully productive hour cleaning up the path outside our plot. Thanks everyone!  As unexciting as that sounds, it's our responsibility to keep our area weeded, and we are among a community of gardeners who all share property.  Yeah, team!

I joined Kris at school on Friday and planted more seeds.  Helping us was teacher Jessica and friends Blue, Rylee, Sasha, Austin, and Julian.  We planted corn, Japanese Cucumbers and Sun Gold cherry tomatoes.  You can check on the seedlings' progress in the front yard.

We will be at the plot next week, where I hope to get our first of many tomato plants in as well as basil seedlings and cucumbers.  Please email me at sapinder@mac.com if you are interested in coming.  Kris can be contacted at school.  Thanks so much.
