Dear friends and families of NSW,
It is with much consideration and many sleepless nights that we have decided for our family to all relocate to Canada for now. Opportunities in Canada have been extended until September and the heartbreaking separation we are experiencing has led us to take a hard look at the future of our family. The most important thing for us right now is that we’re all together, including Maca, our cat!
We can’t thank all of you enough for the kindness and care you have shown us and our boy. It means so much to us. The teachers and Roleen have been incredible in Luka’s development and we can’t thank them enough for the past six months. We don’t consider this a permanent move so who knows perhaps you will meet Luka’s little sister someday soon 🙂
Wishing you the best possible 2021 and beyond!
Much love,
Lana, Luka, James, Maca and baby girl on the way 🙂
We celebrated Luka with a Pizza Party on his last day. In honor of his time with us, we asked the group what memory would their heart like to share with Luka’s:
Wiley: I’m feeling sad and happy because he is going to come back. I liked playing cats with Luka today.
Teacher Silvana: I feel that way too, Wiley. We’re happy Luka is going to be together with all of his family and sad that he’s not going to be at school with us anymore.
Jack: I like going up (pointing to the loft) with Luka.
Teacher Silvana: You like going to the loft.
Jack: Uh huh. I would make vitamins for Luka.
Leo: I’m going to miss playing with you, Luka.
Colette: I’m going to miss playing family with you, Luka.
Teacher Julia: I remember at washing hands time, he would ask me if I still have the airplane because of the airplane tattoo on my wrist. I think he was excited by it. The first time he mentioned it, he said, “Are you Julia? I’m Luka!”
Teacher Cindy: I love snuggling at nap time with him and Candy. I also love playing with him in the sand area and watching him balance on the wiggly tree stump and of course I enjoy our snack breaks together.
Teacher Silvana: I remember when I used to snuggle with him too. And I would call Candy, Candy Cane and Luka would laugh. I loved watching Luka build tall towers all the way to the clouds in the Building Space! I was always amazed how his towers wouldn’t fall.
The Dandelions also honored Luka. They surprised him with heartfelt cards. Our West Wing mailbox was placed between the two groups and each Dandelion placed a card for Luka to receive on the other end. Luka’s family was so touched, they thanked the Dandelions with the book We Wish You More and made cards for them in return.
The Cilantros gifted the book Invisible String to Luka. It holds the message that no matter how far, we have an invisible string that connects us infinitely. Luka, may your new connections embrace your love for cats and laughter! Thank you to Luka’s family for your generosity and humor. The Cilantros were all gifted with a shirt with Luka’s punchline, “Cat fart!” 😉 Our minds and hearts are filled with learning from you. We love and will miss you all!
