Minty (our persona doll) helps with a lot of emotional processing. Minty explained that he couldn’t remember yesterday’s news about The Aloe Veras.

Elliot: I didn’t forget. They are going to a new class.
Minty: Why?!
Elliot: Because they are growing bigger.
Minty: Like me, I’m growing bigger too!
Elliot: Yeah!
Minty sometimes feels sad and nervous about going to school. Anyone else sometimes feel that way?
Bei-Hai: I’m not anymore.
Elliot: Now I like my school because when mommy picks me up from school I will get a present.
Mabel: Want to know why we are not nervous to go to school?
Kevin: Because there’s all sorts of stuff to play with there!
Mabel: And we are going to see Bei-Hai and Elliot there!
Well let’s see how the
The Aloe Veras, on ground, shared some thoughts about their first days to help ease the upcoming transition for the Mints.
Part 1
Part 2 (we did not watch this one)

(This is written out so that perhaps you can share these words with the children if they feel nervous as well.)
Colin: When my first day of school, I was nervous and what made me feel better is when I saw the Legos.
Levi: On the first day of school, when I go in the hallway, I cried because I wanted my mom to be with me but then I saw the sand area and I played in it and that made me feel better.
Chloe: I saw all these different things and joined the library and also the house area is my favorite.
Dylan: When it was my first day of school, I was a bit nervous because all the things were different than my home and that’s why. Also when I got to the house area where you climb up the stairs, up to get the babies, I got happy.
Christoph: On the first day of school, I felt a little nervous and I wanted my mom to stay the whole time and then I got used to my school from all this time.
Teacher Jen has made an online community that feels so connected to each other and through visits on ground and Zooms with the Aloes, also connected to NSW. It’s a transition of a different sort for the Mints. They know us through the Aloe teachers and Jen, they know each other as a group. It’s going to be new and familiar at the same time. We look forward to welcoming them with warmth in August when we’re all in school!
