Hi Everyone,
As the summer is beginning and the school year is winding down, we are starting to think about how this food exploration will evolve and develop next year. Last week Ivana & Katherine attended a workshop given by Patricia McGrath (Branches Atelier) called “The Atelier of Taste” which got them and everyone thinking about ways to really incorporate and grow this idea into something that supports the work the teachers and children are doing in the classroom. How can it really embrace and reflect the values and goals of the school?
- Weekly Friday bus trips to the Farmers Market
- Parent lead cooking classes at NSW
- Creating a cookbook from all the parents cooking contributions
When the new school year begins, we will be considering and implementing some of these new ideas as the exploration continues. Meet with us on Monday from 2:00-3:00 to brainstorm ideas with Kristin, Kristen, Katherine, and Ivana.
If your child came home and told you they ate ice cream at snack last week, don’t panic. It was just Pia (Lucy, WW) who brought in her fantastic “bananas into ice cream” machine. The kids made and ate ice cream made from nothing more than frozen bananas, mangos & berries! I want one of those!
This week Ivana is planning on making another fillo dough apple pie or spanikopita with the kids and Katherine will be following up last week’s veggie Shanghai Rolls with Turon aka Banana Rolls. We don’t have any parents scheduled this week, so let us know if you want to come in.
As always, we would love to have you bring in any fruits, veggies or flavors from home or the farmers market!
Thanks!
Bon Appetit!
Kristen Messina (Luca, WW)
