Dear East Wing Friends,
Unbelievably, we are coming to the end of our school year and with that we are preparing to celebrate our years of friendship together with our Culmination Party on Friday, July 20, 2012.
We will begin our day at Beethoven Elementary School’s auditorium at 11:00 (but arrive no later than 10:45 so the children can meet with their teachers to prep for the day) when our East Wing children (and, yes, you are all invited) will gather to sing a few songs, honor their teachers and join you to watch a short DVD celebrating their time with us at NSW. Around noonish, the immediate families will head over to NSW for lunch and visit awhile before saying goodbye around 2:00pm.
We are on our way to putting the finishing touches together. With 34 families on the East Wing, we are following last year’s plan and continuing with a sweet NSW tradition. Here’s what we’ve got planned:
• The ceremony and party will be on Friday, July 20th for all the children and families on the East Wing.
• The time will be 11:00am-2:00pm. (Arrival no later than 10:45)
• The ceremony will begin at Beethoven Elementary School’s auditorium. It is there that your extended family and friends can join us.
• We will have a catered lunch and our West Wing families will help host the party for you at NSW so you can relax and enjoy your day. Because of our limited space, this will be for our immediate families only.
• The ceremony should last just short of an hour. The children will sing three songs. (I think that the latest count.) We will give them certificates and then honor our teachers.
• The teachers have planned a slide show that we can watch there at Beethoven. Then the children and their immediate families will go back, (you can walk or drive), to school to share good food and even better friendship.
In the NSW tradition, your keepsakes will include a T-shirt (that will be a surprise on the day of graduation), a yearbook, a certificate, and a DVD. This year, Silvana’s boyfriend, Ernesto, will again put together the yearbook for us. (Thank you, Ernesto).
We are asking the families to contribute $100 for the graduation package which includes all of the above plus the traditional legacy gift. There is an envelope marked “graduation” in Kris and Roleen’s office. Kris will be your contact person. Please let her know if you can help with any of the preparations. Looking forward to celebrating together. It’s been a great ride!
