It’s Tuesday, April 22, 2014, and we’re back and excited to see you all. Walking into the kitchen after a very stimulating Spring break to hear all the laughter and feeling all the love was just the welcome home I needed. We have lots to do and doing it together makes it all so much better. And the children. . . what joy they bring us! It was a peaceful day of reconnecting and settling in. Hope you felt it, too. So now. . .here’s what we’ve got going:
Tuesday, April 22nd: Welcome! to Yoshimi Collier and her family Ian, Ai-ris (pronounced “Iris”), and baby sister, Koharu. We’re excited that Yoshimi is joining the Dandelions and the West Wing Monday through Friday in the mornings. Keep your eyes out for new faces and be sure to say “hi” and introduce yourselves. It’s not easy to come to a new place in the middle of the year but if we’ve done our homework right, Yoshimi and her family should quickly feel right at home.
Tuesday, April 22nd: Today is our teacher Christopher’s last day. We are sad to say goodbye to Chris who has, even though he’s been part time, become a really special person here at school. The children will really miss him but we send him off with good wishes for new adventures in Orange County. He promises to stay in touch. We hope so.
Wednesday, April 23rd: Coffee with Roleen from 9:30 to 11:30 at the Holz’s house at 12548 Everglade. It’s a $10 donation that seems to go a long way with great information that is shared amongst ourselves. Experts, none. Friends, all. Hope you can join us. Check out the blog for last Coffee’s notes and mark your calendars for May 13th for the next one.
Thursday, April 24th: Kindergarten Information Night from 6:45 to 9:00 here at NSW. Jennifer Takata (NSW grad parent) and Elias (Maddie’s dad) will be here to talk about the steps to guide you through the public school process. It’s for parents with children who are attending kindergarten in 2015. Bring a friend.
Wednesday, May 7th: Parent Enrichment Afternoon from 3:15 to 4:30. This has been on our calendar so we can share our Sweden experience with you. We hope you can take time to join us.
Tuesday, May 13th: Coffee with Roleen. 9:30 to 11:30. Venue TBD
Saturday, May 17th: Educator Tour from 9 to 3. NSW teachers will be hosting a day for teachers. Focus: How do we welcome families into our community?
