Beans, beans, beans!

When the children went out to water the Charity Garden the week of July 5th, they discovered that the beans and peas were growing in  abundance and ready to harvest. The children were all very excited to see growing vegetables in the garden they have been helping to take care of, and worked hard to harvest the beans and fruit and also clear out the beds of dead leaves.

Micah: Wow! This is a bean farm. There’s so many beans. Beans, beans!

Hayden: They are so big.
Declan: look at this one, its so long. It’s different than this one.

Truman: I think we need more help. This is a lot of beans to pick. Hey Hayden, can you help me pick these purple ones. You have to make sure that they are all purple, because they are a different kind of bean. They are purple beans.

Hayden: Sure. Look I got one! Bean picking is fun.
Declan: I’m tired, we have been picking beans all day.
This group of children worked all morning, cleaning out the leaves, and harvesting beans. They felt that it was too large of a job to do themselves, so they wanted to share their work at the West Wing circle to gather volunteers for next time. They were successful in their plan, and gathered a long list of friends who wanted to help.
