The children started riding the car rockets in the front yard and startled a new visitor on a play date with the noise. Yoli noticed this and gathered the children to make a plan that would create awareness of activity in the space for the new comers.
Yoli: “How will you let the new parents and children know about walking here while you are using the car rockets?”
Mia: “We can make a place with the mats.”
They gather the floor mats and begin to lay out a path around the bike run. Yoli walked through the area.
Ryan: “Walk on the sidewalk!” He admonished Yoli.
Alejandro: “Yoli, you need to walk here!” He pointed to the mats.
After reflecting on this, Yoli plans to revisit the event with the children and have them share the information with the rest of the children at NSW. She projects that they will:
1. Make signs for the crosswalk
2. Create a job out of holding the stop and go sign at the crosswalk
3. Leave the mats in place as a permanent solution.
