At the Light Table, we are in the process of adding “little” versions of the children.
Liv (discovering her little self): It’s me!
Matan: Liv, can little me stand by little you?
Liv nods and Matan moves her little self next to Liv’s. Liv continues lining up the rest of the little figures on a tower of magnet-tiles.
Matan: I made rocket ships for you.
Liv: They are having a playdate.
Matan: Can I go in a rocket ship with you?
Liv: We are still on a playdate.
Soon after, Liv put the little Matan and little Liv into one of the rocket ships.
Teacher Amy: Where are the little friends going?
Liv: Outer space.
Matan: Hawaii.
Liv: They are going to the Atelier.
We know that children use dramatic play to interpret and understand their world. These little representations of themselves allow the children to play out ideas and scenarios that they may want to, or would not be able to do otherwise. I wonder if they will seek to form new relationships as their little selves play together. -Teacher Amy SEPTEMBER 29, 2015
