The children continue trying different theories about how to make a building stronger. Cooper, Teddy, Evera, Eloise, and Emmaline decided to test some of their hypotheses.
Teacher Adriana: How should we prepare the building?
Cooper: Let me show you. We should put these blocks inside here.
Adriana: What are these blocks doing for the building?
Cooper: They are making the building balance.
Teddy: Yes. It helps the building to be stronger, right?
Eloise: It’s making it more stronger. It’s giving it stronger energy.
By testing their ideas, the children are developing vocabulary that helps them communicate their strategies for their constructions. By collaborating, they discover possible modifications. If the group recognizes the superior strength of balanced energy over the individual properties of the blocks, we wonder if they are as aware of their own strength as a group over individual focus. -Adriana & Kristin
