After the first few critiques of the volume during last week’s water jug sound exploration, the children moved beyond just exploring loud sounds and began to investigate sounds in all ranges of volume.
“Listen to this!!” ~Felix
Showcasing a sound became a focus among the children. But with so many sounds, and action occurring, how would the children hold their peers attention? They discovered that the softest of sounds were the most efficient in captivating their audience.
“I can make the quietest sound ever. I can hear something.”~Julian
“Hey! I made a sound. It’s a really soft sound.” ~Hanami
At the end of our East Wing session, we sat down to share one sound per child and the sound-maker had the opportunity to name their creation.
Hanami: “It sounds kinda like raindrops.”
Ila: “Squeaky. It’s a scriggly scraggly sound.”
Skylar: “Patting.”
Julian: “A clock.”
Declan: “A clapping sound.”
Lena: “Cat scratching.”
