“You draw with a partner. You have to think about it first.” -Sammy

Partner Drawing is a process through which the children first share their individual ideas and then brainstorm ways to connect and illustrate a new idea in partnership.

Sammy: You draw with a partner. You have to think about it first though.

Naia: You draw and you tell a story with someone.

Rio: Partner drawing is when you draw together with your partner.

Austen: It’s when you work with someone and communicate what you’re gonna do, like a story and a drawing both.

Theo: You just tell someone what you’re gonna draw and then you agree and you draw together.

Partner Drawing sparks children’s own ideas and can encourage each other to give and accept feedback from peers. The children problem solve and encourage each other with alternative solutions that are then applied in other situations. When they plan, carry out, and review their work together, they help to shape each others’ understanding and improve relationships with peers.
