Hi all,
Thank you for celebrating another milestone in our West Coast Collaborative on 11/14. It was our annual WCC kickoff with a special Reggio Study Tour reflection from the 2019 trip. Teachers shared their changes, parents shared their inspirations, and leadership shared new developments!

Seeing everyone together inspires the passion with which we all work in this field. I know those of you who were not there truly wanted to be and so I’m highlighting a few happenings for you and to remind us of our dynamic opportunities!

#1 The WCC will launch our website to the world very soon
- Here, the teacher’s documentation will go out in a newsletter for the education of the public. This is an enormous opportunity to invite other adults into co-constructivist theory and practice. Talk with your team about the content calendar and submissions of work.
- The logo was designed with great intention. Although it lists our schools individually, our WCC design stands for progression (as in yellow and blue make green!) and circularity (well, it’s a circle…indicative of the exchanges between our schools, the give and take, the push and pull and overall harmony) a value for our natural context ( the analogous colors in nature, the shape of the ‘wave’ along our coast). Yep, we thought about all of it.
- The Ellen Khokha Scholarship application will be on the website. This scholarship reduces expenses associated with our events for ECE students. Share this opportunity far and wide!
#2 Tiziana and an Atelierista are coming for a conference on February 15th at Wildwood! The previous week they will work directly with us in our schools.
- Bright Start on 2/10
- GP on 2/11/ & 2/12
- Branches on 2/13
- NSW on 2/14
- CONFERENCE with TIZIANA and an atelierista at WIldwood 2/15

#3 Our parents are STRONG advocates for the work and the children. I’m haring this super fun link to help YOU get involved in several ways: open the camera on your phone and point it at the QR code above for more information.
- Organizing with us – the community events like sharing seeds at the local Farmers’ Markets all across the city with documentation of how these sunflower seeds can immunize our bee population!
- Teach the teachers – share passions and strengths – teachers are eager to learn disparate languages – know how to play the ukelele? Take good photos? Let us know and we’ll connect!
- Take part in the culmination of our 3-year contract with Reggio Children in the installation and conference being designed for 2022. It’s a great way to bring your next school into the learning!
#4 And, as always, here are some of the incredible things happening in our city that may inspire your own thinking.
- 11/18 Book Club Loris Malaguzzi 100 Languages at Branches Atelier
- 11/19 10 Questions at UCLA What is Creativity
- 12/9 Willows School speaker series: The Cultural Forces Driving America Apart
Signing off with the joy of a full calendar – <3 Kristin
