“When you make friends, it makes you amazing.” – Aliana

Coming back from a weekend welcomes an opportunity to reconnect during our morning meeting. As we reflected together, Cindy shared her experience with Roleen’s SMC class who were here at NSW on a Saturday.

Cindy: The school looked so inviting and the students had many questions about all the materials we use. They commented on the variety and were amazed by the work of the NSW children.

Silvana: That’s a great segue, Cindy – amazing. How are we each so amazing? Let’s all pause for a minute and think about how amazing we are. What makes you amazing?

Kirby: I know how to draw Hello Kitty.

Luca: Riding my bike.

Eli: Because I’m still practicing drawing a laughing face.

Finn: When I’m at home, I help and support people.

Sawyer: Doing fun stuff.

Marina: Riding a bike without training wheels.

Lucy C.: Still learning to ride my bike with pink letters and a basket!  I ride my bike. I am amazing!

Leo: Making so much fun with myself makes me amazing!

Juliet: Riding a bike without training wheels.

Will: In my last school, I didn’t have a best friend and now I do and I love them! Now, I have lots of them and I even made a friend at a park. Her name is Mehana!

Ennio: I caught a fish all by myself!

Diego: Playing with my sister by myself.

Arnon: My love. And I really love cactuses. When we get to sleep over and go to our houses.

Aliana: When you make friends, it makes you amazing. Sometimes I write their names and then they be friends with me.

Within this communication, we recognize the strength of self-perceptions and also an opportunity to develop further. In order to expand an identity and cultivate the value for integrating others’ ideas in our lives, we need to embrace and nurture different views of our personalities. Doing so integrates the aspects of our inner and intrapersonal selves and links compassionate care and reciprocal communication in our community. We wonder how we will bring our amazing strengths to play in seeing ourselves differently?
