It’s Tuesday, July 17th, 2012, and we’re almost to the end of the school year as we know it! Never predictable, always filled with energy, and boxed in with emotions afraid of going amuck! These days are precious. Besides saying goodbye to Yoli, we are also saying farewell to Lucca (WW) and his mom and dad, Katherine and John. Lucca will be joining friends at Pacifica Montessori and we will miss his amazing spirit and energy but know he will continue to spread the joy at his new school. Transitions are never easy but if we do them right, we know we are not alone and that it’s really all good. . . this life’s journey of learning and loving and staying connected!
Thanks to all of you who stepped forward to answer my requests for help. I’m reminded that when I start to feel overwhelmed, it’s because I’ve forgotten to ask! I so appreciate all of you. The weeks that we are closed, we are attempting another big project. Thanks to Pablo/Leo EW (OMG. . . You’re graduating!!!! I just thought of that!!) and Jon/Benjamin/WW (whew! Thank goodness, you’re here another year!), we are tackling the continuation of our kitchen project and moving on to the office. Not an easy task, but one that will give everyone great pleasure, I hope). It’s the results of your hard work and a whole lot of FUNraising! Next focus. . . Back Patio Studio. We are researching doors that will work with our ever-present sand issue and cabinets that are really meant to house supplies and beautiful materials ready to inspire the children’s amazing work.
With that, the new year calendar is ready to go (complete with fundraising dates!) and thanks to Jonathan, on the blog under “Important Docs” for you to coordinate with your own personal calendars. Our first big gathering is on August 21st for our Parent Partners’ Meeting (6:45 to 9:00). It’s a good first night to kick off the school year and a time for all of us (new families included) to come together to make everything happen in collaboration and partnership. Mark your calendars for our whole school picnic at Glen Alla Park on August 25th from 11 to 1. Our Parent Ambassadors (Jonathan and Laurie) are on top of this so it will be a good one and great way for our “buddies” to welcome their/our new families. Let’s not forget the name tags!
© Attention, Grads. . . who wants to coordinate an alumni picnic? September? October? With all of you going to different schools, it will be a great way to gather to share experiences and camaraderie. Jorge?!
So. . . in closing. . . and mixing business with pleasure. . . to get ready for the new year, current families should:
ð Go onto the blog in Important Docs and read the Parent Handbook (there are some additions and changes) and once you’ve done that, print out the signature page and return it signed for your child’s file).
ð Go onto the blog and check into “Rosters” and make sure your info is correct.
ð Go onto the blog in Important Docs, print out and complete the End of the Year Ealuation form that asks “How did we do this year?” It’s important to reflect on our work and part of that is getting your feedback. When the teachers meet in August in preparation for the new school year, we want to put into action the real pieces that answer our questions of “What Worked? What didn’t?” so we can thoughtfully plan. Without your input, we have only one-sided views. Be honest. Our feelings won’t get hurt. . . or if they do. . .we know how to get passed the feelings that stand in our way of moving forward in this learning together.
ð Remember that your yearly materials fee of $300 is due August 1st along with your tuition.
ð Remember that the new yearly tuition rates begin on August 1st. They are posted on the blog under “important docs” (click on Tuition 2012).
Remember that we love you. Whew! What else?! xoxoxoR
