“Mommy, can we pick up our house and New School-West and just move it to Maryland?” Asha asks me this today. How great would it be if that were possible! But alas, it is with a little sadness that we bid farewell to our beloved preschool and our life here in Los Angeles, and venture on a new life in the Washington DC area. Asha’s last day at New School-West was Monday June 4th, and she had an amazing day filled with love and hugs from all her friends and teachers, and a ride around the neighborhood on her bike as part of the Trike-a-thon.
Today we got on a plane and flew to Washington DC, and we will temporarily stay at my mom’s house in Fairfax until we find an apartment in Chevy Chase, MD. Buji’s new job is at JBG Companies, a Washington DC-area-based Real Estate investment firm, as the VP of Asset Management. But mainly we are also moving to the DC area to be closer to family, they pretty much all live there. We will miss this school, the staff, and all of the wonderful parents we have met, and we will miss the community that we have been a part of during our time here. We will also miss the weather a lot. We do hope to see you all again when we come visit LA, and if you are ever visiting the Washington DC area, please do drop us a line! Our contact information will remain on the roster. And in Asha’s very 21st century response to goodbyes, “We’ll see you all the time on Skype!”
Love,
Asha, Annie, Buji, Kanan
