Contributions these weeks.

Flowers enriched our daily lives this week and were brought by Christoph, Kou, Rosie Mae, Dylan, and Hendriks.

Snack was brought by Rosie Mae, Arnon, Jack, Ennio, Bodhi, Lucy C., Eve, Phedon, Christoph, and Ennio. Hendriks, Colin & Chloe, Moss, Mia, Luca, Mira & Sonia, Sawyer, Everly, Mika, Taj and Miles – YUM.

The facilitating teachers met to discuss NSW language. You’ve probably heard it at home, words like ‘support’, ‘connect’, ‘it’s for the community’. We recognized that these phrases were less clear for our intention of having the children work together and think of others so we decided to rephrase our expectations. We are now NOT peeling fruit or segmenting grapes so that children can ‘work together’. We’ve also accidentally discovered that the children are very capable of spreading cottage cheese, hummus and seed butters when we ran short of cups! Of course they are!!

Sometimes we have to take a step back and watch what our assumptions are alongside what capabilities children have reached! Learning to write letters and numbers at the snack menu is a lot like that too.

“Connecting” over snack

Brandi and Naomi (Barrett and Tallulah) freshened up our front walk as representatives of the gardening team. Watch where you step under the security keypad – there’s daisies underfoot!
