Fresh flowers from the garden (and a few from the flower shop) graced the classrooms this week from Moss (WW) and Eva (EW).
Snack was shared by Kayden, Diego, Fiona, and Arnon in the WW and Eva, Coco & Leo, and Estelle in the EW.
And our monthly Teacher Lunch was lovingly made by Laura Smith (Ava, EW) with dessert by Elexis Thresher (Indie, WW). Butternut soup, fun toppings, ginger chicken meatballs, rice, cucumber and arugula salads and brownies! YUM…
Avey’s mom Sarah (EW) cooked with the children and made gluten free mini muffins! Boy does this place smell good!
Our turtles were pampered by Chris (Ennio, WW) as part of their monthly maintenance.
Agnes had a Birthday Book celebration in the EW with mom and dad (Amanda and Chris)
Issac and mom Tamra (EW) chaperoned the Friday Farmer’s Market trip today where our goal was to bring back something to plant in our Spring garden. They brought home 3 strawberry plants!
On Tuesday Kristin, Cindy, Amy, Katherine and Astrid attended the LACMA ‘evening for educators’ reading, writing and visual art. We attended different workshops and were reminded of the importance or layering multiple approaches to a story in order to support the practice of inferring meaning – where children learn to ‘read between the lines’ and make thoughtful interpretations.
Also on Tuesday, the Lavin family (Lucy WW, Charlie and Jake EW) hosted the Coffee with Roleen. It was full house. . . and a welcoming house it was! Notes and photos to come.
On Wednesday Kristin and Roxanne attended the Mr. Rogers: ‘Won’t you be my neighbor’ special screening and discussion. The panel discussion afterwards revealed the desire to gather phrases to repeat in certain situations. The discussion ensued about maintaining an intention, a belief, a frame of mind and allowing time to listen rather than say the ‘right’ thing.
Also on Wednesday, Amanda (Lily EW), Justin (EW), and Adriana came to support our NSW alumni parent, Jennifer Takata, for our Kindergarten Night. Thirty parents came to find out about first steps in the kindergarten process and search.
On Saturday Silvana, Cindy, Roxanne, Cynthia, Adriana, Astrid, Susan, Wendy, Jen, Katherine, Katy, and Roleen attend Tiziana’s talk on ‘The adult role in children’s lives’. There will be a Tiziana reflection next week!
