East Wing Back To School Night

Reflections:

Eva –

You are exemplifying constructivism. Everything is made from scratch. No agenda but to support learning and interests. Intentional and developed creations, so detailed, more so than what adults are often capable of. So inspiring.

Kate –

My 5th year, every back to school night is so different.

It’s amazing to see the teachers constantly bringing forth their curiosity.

Feeling so grateful for the school and teachers.

There is intention, curriculum underneath all of this – each year the space changes and the work changes and it reflects the current students.

Sean –

Reminder of what a gift this experience is.

Hearing Susan talk about the details and discussions our kids are having – how lucky our kids are.

Their teachers are talking at their level, treating them as whole people that are valid. It’s wonderful.

It all flows downhill from Roleen and the teachers and we are the beneficiaries.

Shelley –

You are able to handle big themes and subjects.

Big ideas are being discussed and managed. Your strategies. For example, the teachers taking on responsibility as one of their strategies.

Your ability to communicate big ideas to these kids — huge subjects, huge emotions.

You guys are living everything in your language and approach.

Anna –

Teachers and kids here are able to be present, in the moment. They have the time, no rushing. The teachers are patient with our children and have the time to Listen to them. They aren’t spoken at, but rather a part of the conversation, involved in their learning. The children are viewed as individuals with knowledge and not just cute little people.

Grateful for teachers and their support that not one size fits all.

Sharon-

Classroom is rich with opportunities.

These kids are not just learning letters and numbers of the day.

What they are learning is based on their interests and passions.

Authentic, fun learning.

Fiona –

Adults can be so scheduled – our work/lives can be so rigid.

I so appreciate the fluidity, the fluidity of learning.

Leslie –

Seeing respect between children, love and the listening is apparent. Seeing what’s happening at school , I am appreciative of the academic work that is being taught, thankful for the teachers and cognizant of the continuation of work that needs to be done at home.
