Farmer’s Market

The Photograghy group was finally able to take it’s much anticipated field trip to the Farmer’s Market.  The trip was prompted by a discussion the group had about the things they wanted to photograph.  They realized that all the things they had listed were found at the Farmer’s Market.  So after a quick bus ride, the children set out with cameras in hand to capture the details of the Venice Farmer’s Market.  Later on the group met to reflect on the trip. They discussed their impressions and their most memorable part about the trip.

On bus

Julian:     I took a picture of my shadow. I took pictures of Jobim and Ava too.

Jasmine:  I remember taking pictures of the flowers.

Jobim:    I remember the bus ride. We had to take two, one there and one back.
Ava:        I remember the licorice.

This led to a conversation about what the group planned to do with their photographs.

Jasmine:   We should put some up at school, and we should take some home.
Luca:        We should pick out most favorite and take the rest home.
Jobim:      We should hang them inside.
Sasha:       We could hang them above the curtains.
Julian:      We can share our idea at circle and then decide.

The teachers reflected on the children’s excitment for displaying their work, and their desire to involve the whole East Wing in the process.
