“Happy Earth Day” -Roleen

Hello, Friends.  Earth Day was April 22nd and many of us celebrated the day in a variety of meaningful ways in recognition of our role in preserving and supporting our Earth’s well-being as responsible citizens.  Be it planting a garden, composting our food scraps, riding or walking instead of driving, recycling, turning off the lights, refraining from using single use plastics, cleaning up the beach, or going meatless one day a week!. . .ever little bit matters.  On Friday, Jordan (Dillon Ray and Mason/Aloe Vera) sent along a very poignant musical video reacquainting us with Greta Thunberg and her mission to bring us together in manifesting our dreams and working together globally as active participants in saving our planet. It is our hope that Earth Day is really every day and this is a beautiful reminder of what we can do together. . . even little steps matter. https://f.io/ACDcVYWr

The fun follow up to this is that we were involved in this original project in October of 2019 when two of our grad parents (Rachel Pollack and Lon Davis–both with 2 children each well into their 20’s!) contacted us.  They sat around our kitchen table with our Social Responsibility Parent Team . . .Lisa (Gia/2020 and Marcel/Dandelion), Angie Graves (Naomi/2020), and Brittany (Finn/2020) and a few of our teachers.  Their idea was to come to our school and videotape the children drawing earth images for this proposed around the world video.

It had us looking at some legal, privacy issues and so Heidi and Cheryl (Elliot/Basil) looked into contracts.  Long story short, we settled on submitting drawings from various years and waited to hear back about where it was all going.  Then COVID hit and we lost touch.
When Jordan sent along the video, it was such a delight to see, complete with a surprise appearance of one of our NSW grads featured in the montage.  Zoe Frohna (now college-age) is the young woman who speaks of adding more support for organic farming.  When I reached out to Lon and Rachel sharing Jordan’s email, Lon responded and sent the following Vimeo which speaks to their initial project with us.  Evidently, there are several versions in support of Greta Thunberg’s mission.  So, with everything, there is a great story that connects us all.  Thought I’d share ours.  Happy Earth Day. . . every day!!   Enjoy!  https://vimeo.com/432750351oxoxR
