“I will help you hold it.” Juliette

This morning, Silvana brought back an interest that the children had.
“You said you wanted to make a mountain with the paper. How will you make it stay up?”
The children had different ideas and used materials from the shelf to illustrate.

"I think the glue will hold it." Isaiah

"The tape will hold it." Oliver

"I will help you hold it." Juliette

"I did the yellow one." Bryce S.

This process of revisiting ideas and utilizing materials independently is the foundation of our classroom work.  Having the children illustrate their ideas is a valued form of daily communication. As it turned out, it was agreed that the tape held the mountain shape better.  Negotiating through hands on experiences and learning to share ideas and participate in decision making is key to the preschool experience – and, lots of fun!
