“I’m an emergency kid!” David

Today we listened to the ‘safety bell’ at school, after nap time. Jessica pulled the bell (which sounds like a buzz) for the children. When we hear that sound, the children go to the nearest teacher and we all walk out of the school together to gather on May Street. Rest assured, there are teachers assigned to sweep the school making sure all children are out, and other teachers take the sign in sheet and contact lists so we may communicate with you asap in case of a real emergency.

Jessica: “We’ll leave the school together and take the emergency kits.”

David: “I’m an emergency kid!”

Outside, we looked at the ‘bell’.

Piper B.: “Why is the bell red?”

Hannah: “Because red is the color of emergencies usually.”

In the future weeks, we’ll listen again and begin to walk the drill for practice. A sign will be posted on the exit door each time we do this so you know what ’emergency’ your child is talking about at dinner.
