Oh, no it's not. It's already late on Thursday! Whew! Lots of happenings this week with parent and teacher tours, photos with Duane, and pumpkin decorating. And have you seen those giant pumpkins in the middle courtyard?! There are even more in the classrooms and it's amazing to think that they were grown in Josie's backyard. What fun! And what's even more fun is that she and her family are so willing to share them with us. You've seen the raffle postings. We all have a chance to win the opportunity to take one home so get your raffle tickets in. Drawing will be on the 27th.
Friday will be a half day with the East Wingers going to the Skirball to experience Noah's Ark with Sam and Flora and some parents. Cindy, Amy, Maisha, Regina, and I will be here with the West Wingers in the morning and then off to visit some kindergarten classrooms and other Reggio-inspired preschools in the afternoon. Cynthia, Jessica, Silvana, Yoli, Kris, and Paola will be at an all day workshop on Challenging Behaviors at The Growing Place at Marine Park. It will be a day of learning for everyone. Thanks for supporting this opportunity for professional development. We promise we'll share with you what we learn.
Monday will be Coffee with Roleen at Sari and Jacob's house at 9:30.
And from 1:30 to 3:00, Cindy, Amy, Kris, and I will attend a meeting with the directors and studio teachers from Blueberry, First Pres., and the Growing Place at Evergreen Community School. Every month the schools plan times for the teachers to get together to talk about documentation, project work, and ways that the studio teachers can extend the work of the children. It's been a great support system and we continue to reap the benefits of networking and building strong relationships with our colleagues who study the Reggio approach.
Group Photo Day that was on the original calendar is being rescheduled. We will keep you posted with the new dates and times. We are grateful to Libby (Ewan's mom) for organizing this with us and for bringing her photography talents to share.
Halloween is coming and next week I'll be starting to put on my witch costume with the children as we prepare for the parade on Friday. Sure hope you've been getting the blog info to prepare you for the day's event. Check out the blog files on the right under Roleen's Corner. The It's October article will reference details for the parade day. We'll keep you posted as the week progresses.
Betsy Brown Braun has a great blog with a good read about what halloween means to young children. Check out www.betsybrownbraun.com and click on "blog". She's right on with what she has to say.
So, it's Thursday. . . have a great weekend. R
