It’s
Monday, April 12, 2010 and it’s gorgeous outside. The rain has made everything
sparkle and memories of Saturday night are still fresh. What a great night. Thanks to Kim and Robin and all the
fundraising crew who
helped to make such a successful, fun event. Jim said it was our best one yet and I am, once again, so
grateful to be surrounded by such fantastic friends. How lucky we are.
More to come on all the details.
Hope you
all can come to our Parent Partners Meeting on Wednesday, April 14th. It’s from 6:30 to 8:45 and Jennifer Strange will be here to meet you and
get us all excited about all the amazing things that are happening around the
Reggio approach. She’s especially
passionate about our work with parents and can I just say. . . she
loves everything about NSW. It was
Jennifer who said we need to open our doors to other educators. Let them in on all the good work we’re
doing and especially share our enthusiasm that we have for our parents. Sign ups are on the door. Maisha will be here to support
childcare.
We’re
gearing up for the Reggio Initiative this weekend and I’ve managed to get a one day price ($125)
for Friday’s workshops for anyone who’s interested in attending with us. Let me know if you want to come. Saturday we will be here to host three
bus loads of educators. Anna
(Sophia’s mom) is helping to organize a volunteer list if you want to help
there, too. I will post the agenda on the blog under the “Reggio” heading if you
want to click on to see what’s going on.
Some of you
have asked if we can all go to the Wonders of Learning Exhibit together and so I’ve arranged that
to happen on Monday, April 19th from 5:00 to 7:00. Some teachers from Pepperdine will be there, too. It will be our last chance to meet
together since the exhibit will be leaving on April 24th. I’ll see if we can arrange for
childcare at NSW. Let me know if
you can make it.
Our Alleyway Entrance Project
will begin on Tuesday, April 20th, so be prepared to enter from
Venice next week.
The Varners
are hosting the next Coffee with Roleen on Wednesday, April 21st at 9:30. Sign will be posted on the door.
Kindergarten
Night for those
children attending kindergarten in 2011 will be on Thursday, April 22nd,
from 7:00 to 9:00. It’s a night of information. We’ll have child care available. Sign will be posted in hallway.
Trike-a
thons will be
coming this month, too. April
27 for the East Wingers and the 28th for the West Wingers. It’s a time when the children bring their “wheels” and we
ride up and down May St. With
parent support, it’s a pretty fun event and we’ll keep you posted as to how you
can get involved. Every year we
raise about $1500 for the children with cancer who are at St. Jude’s
Hospital. It’s something that is
important to us and we collect funds all throughout May. Make sure your child has a helmet
though, so shop now. We like to
take this time to talk safety.
Are you
loving what’s going up on the walls? Check out the
classrooms. The teachers are working like crazy to “Make Learning
Visible”. Watching them has me
loving them all that much more.
They’re amazing!!!
You’re amazing, too.
Without your support, very little of this could be done. Thanks to the parents who came last
Saturday to help clean, paint, and build, to the parents who organized an
amazing fundraiser and to all of you who partied with your heart and open
wallets!!! Kitchen renovation. . .
here we come!!! xoxoxoRoleen
