“Lasagna Cupcakes are Yummy!”

Had a wonderful time today cooking with the kids. Thanks for letting the parents participate like this; I get a kick out of it. We did a lot of tastings of ingredients and smelling of fresh herbs.

IMG_4273Ingredients included: Wantons, ricotta/mozzarella/Parmesan Reggiano cheeses, cooked onions/peppers, spinach, fresh oregano/thyme/basil, tomato sauce.

Some quotes/observations:
– Georgia mentioned she did not like spinach, then decided to try it with Laz and determined she actually did like spinach
– Lia noticed that we were using Wanton wrappers and made the connection of making dumplings with her family. All wanted to try the Wantons.
– Harper also said that she LOVED spinach
– All really enjoyed the Parmesan
– We smelled and whomever wanted, tasted the herbs. Georgia mentioned that oregano smelled like pizza, we discussed that most pizza sauces use oregano, usually dried.
– Laz thought that thyme smelled like a salad, which we discussed is often found in vinaigrette.
-Although not all were interested in trying each ingredient, they all were excited to eat the finished product. And called it making “deliciousness”
– Teddy came over and mentioned he did not like lettuce as we were braking apart the basil. We had him smell it and he decided he wanted to try it. He determined he did not like it, but it was great that he was willing to try on his own after being opposed to the look of it.            -Jess Nelson, Laz (EW)
