Let’s do that! – Dylan

In the front yard, both the East Wing and the West Wing have the opportunity to connect for the first time through shared materials. In the clay exploration, Moss and Dylan bridge a relationship after first playing side by side on separate ideas.

Dylan (WW): (Seeing Moss working on a log, grabs another one and holds it up to engage this new friend) What is this?

Moss (EW): (Recognizing the invitation to play, he looks at the log to which he’s added clay) Let’s put clay on it!

Dylan: Let’s do that.

Moss: (adding his idea to his own log) Let’s put clay on both ends.

Moss: Mine can roll. What about yours?

Dylan demonstrates a non-rolling construction.

Moss: (Advising in a supportive tone) You don’t have to flatten it so much.

Relationships develop slowly. Working together in a quiet space was helpful in sustaining dialogue and began to shape a connection that later extended into play on the slide together in a progression of delight in a new friend. – Nerea (teacher)
