Parents are always welcome with open arms and we also want to share in culturally significant moments for your family. Sanam shared that today is the first day of Spring (the vernal equinox), which is celebrated by many people around the world as Nowruz (Persian New Year), and spoke about it at West Wing Circle. She talked with the children about what each item in the Haft Seen, a special Nowruz table setting, symbolizes. There are some really beautiful ones (like, a sour orange floating in a bowl of water represents the Earth floating in space. Sumac represents the sunrise and light overcoming darkness).Curious ourselves and wanting to know more, we invited Sanam to share the symbols with everyone on the front table. They will be there this morning while we can keep a watchful eye on the interactions and we’ll move them to the kitchen table for you to enjoy with your children this week.
Thank you, Sanam, Dahlia, and Juliette for sharing this sweet tradition with NSW.
