Groups have developed based on common interest and previous experiences with Ilaan. These groups will stay together a few more weeks to continue their movement investigations.
The focus of this group has been round shapes. This week the group played a game where one friend stood still while the other friend moved around them in a circle. Ilaan challenged them to find different ways to move their bodies around their friends.
We were excited to see all the creative ways they found to move their bodies in a circle. Some crawled around, some twirled and spun around, some scooted aroun.
After this game, Ilaan moved on to finding round objects in the room for the children to try replicating with their bodies.
The first object was a goard, but scissors, and a freeze dance followed.
Beckett: “It’s like a pumpkin. Make your body like a circle.”
Devin: “It’s pointy at the top.”
Beckett: “I can make all the shapes.”
