My Sweet Graduates!

July 6, 2011

It’s that time of year again and the winds are tossing our sails as we try to steady our course upon approaching our 2011-2012 school year.  With the hellos to our new friends (which we always love), we are bracing ourselves for the goodbyes that go along with the rhythm that is Transition. It’s never easy and even though we know it’s supposed to happen, we are never quite ready. Be assured, that if we stick together, we’ll be able to stay on course. So don’t let go of our hands. . . not quite yet!

Our traditional Culmination “Graduation” Party (all East Wingers are invited) will be on Friday, July 22nd, from 11:00-2:00 and for those of you who are moving onto kindergarten this will be your last day at NSW (grab the tissues!). With that, we have applied your deposit to your July tuition so if you are up to date, your last tuition payment was dated June. For those of you who are joining us for another great year, we will begin our vacation once our graduation festivities are over and begin our remodel of our kitchen/staff workroom.  Hopefully, it will be all ready to go when we return on August 15thto celebrate our new school year.

Here is a recap of what’s to happen on Friday, July 22nd, Graduation Day:

  • The ceremony will start at 11:00 (that’s our plan!) at Beethoven Elementary School’s Auditorium so meet us there.  The address is 3711 Beethoven Street which is North of Venice Blvd., South of Palms, and West of NSW.  We have chosen Beethoven so we have space to  accommodate your extended family and friends.
  • We are expecting about 125 people.  There will be parking on the street so adjust your schedules so you can come relaxed and ready to enjoy the day.
  • The children will be entering the auditorium together, sing some songs, receive their certificates, and honor their teachers.  Once that’s done, we will ask the children to sit with their parents to watch the DVD that the teachers put together for you.  Bring tissues!
  • That should bring us to around 12:30 or so, when we then leave to meet back at school and enjoy a Mexican food fare with Anna’s Foods Taco Truck.  Because we have limited space at the school, this part of the day is for immediate family and grandparents only.
  • Plan to eat around 1:00 and visit with your friends.  It will be a warm day, so dress cool and wear sunscreen.  We’ll be saying our goodbyes around 2:00.
  • We suggest you bring your own water bottles to the auditorium.

In the NSW tradition, your keepsakes will include a T-shirt, a yearbook, a certificate, a DVD, and a pizza party at Beethoven on the last day of rehearsal.  Our keepsake will be your memories and your class legacy gift (TBA).  Silvana’s boyfriend, Ernesto, is putting the final touches to the yearbook, and the children (with Jonathan’s guidance) are practicing their songs and taking walks to Beethoven.  We’re busy!!  Remember to put your $100 in the envelope marked “graduation” which is on the office door if you haven’t already.   If you have any questions, just ask.

See you on the 22nd, ready to party!
