NO Parking!

The East Wing children, through trial and error, have created a NO PARKING sign for the spot nearest the entrance door. The reason for the sign is those who pull in there have no bumper for their tires and the pots keep getting knocked down.

The first sign was a cone – that was taken in the night.

The second one was a chair – that was also taken.

The third one was a painted wood sign that was slightly illegible. This one was run over several times.

The final sign was created with the observation that the sign was ‘hard to read at night’ -Jake Sugarman (because his mom ran it down once at an evening NSW event – sorry Kathe, all’s fair in good storytelling…). The children decided it needed to be ‘reflective’.

Cutting reflective tape

We walked together to the space and discussed where it should be placed.

Kristin: “So, where will the sign go to keep cars from driving into the space?”

Where will the sign go?

Payton: “I’ll be the driver, get in my car. Vroom, vroom, vroom.”

Kris: “Now you’re parked in the space. Is this sign meant to say you can’t park in this space at all? Or, is it meant to say to stop before the pot?”

Easton and Payton: “Not at all!”

The final placement of the sign.

They placed it at the head of the space. It’s bold, it’s reflective, it’s legible – you have no more excuses.

If however, you have young children who do not walk and only 5 minutes to drop off your preschooler. You may stop, move the sign, and slowly pull in to do a quick drop off without strapping and unstrapping your toddler out of a car seat,  into a carrier, out of the carrier and into the carseat.
