NSW and Mar Vista ArtWalk

With a big heart, NSW opened our doors for the Mar Vista Artwalk. We anticipated sharing the children’s work: the squirrel and bird house, the NSW Newsletter with the children’s interviews with shopkeepers, and the ‘Being Different is Normal’ exhibition. We recorded our own teachers’ stories to entice the public to come and record their oral histories for Storycorps. We recorded four NSW alumni ranging from 6 years old to 25 and we made new connections with some Mar Vista residents, too. One of whom was a 70+ retired preschool teacher who worked in South Central in the 1970s! We will load those stories to Storycorp throughout the week and we hope you’ll join us in recording Mar Vista for Storycorps and the Library of Congress. Together, our voices paint a rich landscape of humanity and it seems fitting that New School-West is the touchstone for everyone’s story.
