Last night we met to share our excitement about the children’s current interests.
The children’s interest reinforced our desire to share a strong image of children in the neighborhood. So, when we planned our teacher in-service, it was with this in mind: If we could install children’s work anywhere in our community, where would it be most impactful? Teachers made presentations of big dreams. Some of us imagined children’s work in Metro Stations, local businesses, and roadside signage. But, we wanted to know what YOU imagined! When designing last night’s presentation, we planned to brainstorm together with you.
Then we introduced the upcoming Mar Vista ARTWALK on June 1st at NSW as an easy and convenient event to showcase the children’s perspective on neighborhood walks. We planned a scavenger hunt!
And you all added depth to the process of the evening: takeaway art with an impactful message from the children, Geotagging, Instagram, and return postcards to gather public reflection on the takeaways. We will be solidifying these plans soon and would LOVE more of your input and great ideas! Stay tuned for ARTWALK PLANNING MEETING!
