Ode to Daddies

Extending on the poetry tradition, the children of the New School-West Preschool created a poem for all daddies.

Daddies like to watch us play, smiling
it makes them happy.
We try to give them kisses and they let us.
Daddies work, drive in their seats,
cook pasta, pancakes, waffles.
They look like chefs,
tastes yummy.
We play together
miniature golf, go to the park,
sit next to each other, write poetry, sleep together.
Daddies are cuddly like stuffed animals,
like a cozy snuggle.
Their bodies feel warm
like a sun dripping into your hand,
makes us feel happy.
Sometimes when they are away,
they bring us presents.
They like to do that
when they read to us, hug us,
tuck us into bed, kiss us.
Oh, his mustache tickles.
That’s when we know they love us.
Daddies feel like love.
