On a joint focus field trip to Ocean View Farms yesterday, the children dug for potatoes and went on a photography excursion.
These potatoes grew from the spuds the families brought in before the holidays. When the greens began to die back, we unearthed some beautiful new baby potatoes.
"I found a giant one!" Marcello
"Here's a tiny baby." Kai
"Here are a lot of them." Griffin
These potatoes are curing in the refrigerator at school awaiting Mima's mashed potatoes next Thursday during Cooking with Mima.
The photography group joined us at the plot toward the end of the field trip and helped us to harvest the lettuce and kale.
The photography group had many stories to tell of their investigation of Ocean View Farms. There was a hawk on a perch and many flowers. Sam will be organizing those photos for the children to review.
Thank you to Jody, Sarah, Ruth and Byron for driving to the plot yesterday.
If you would like to join us, please sign up on the white board on Monday or Friday to come weed, plant and water with the teachers.
