Flowers forever! Thank you to Agnes (EW), Quinn (WW), and Hendriks (WW) for the gorgeous flowers Monday. Just so you know, the flowers’ usefulness doesn’t end when they fade. They are brought to the Front Yard for the outdoor kitchen, paper making, and coming soon – creating natural dyes.
And snack! Arrow’s (EW) family (dad Peter and little brother Jack) came along to make the menu together as did Luca (WW) and mom Katrina. Mehana (WW) and mom April with baby Nova, as well as Wally (EW), Gia (WW) and Mamma Genna, Chase (EW), Paisley (EW), Indie (WW), Olivia (WW).

It was Caitlin’s (EW) and Everly’s (WW) birthday this week. Caitlin’s mom Sandra and Everly’s parents, Emma and Aric, read and donated books from our Amazon wish list called, Hattie and Hudson and Duck Duck Moose at circle time. This book and lots of others (many donated by Laura (Ava EW) are ready for check out at the library in the kitchen.
Wally (EW) with mom Rebecca and dad Lucas cooked with friends in the Middle Courtyard. Handmade noodles (regular and gluten-free) were served for the afternoon snack.
The Gardening Team met on Thursday to organize work in the Front Yard.
Katrina (Luca WW) researched paraben-free sunscreens for general application at NSW. She linked us to EWG’s website: https://www.ewg.org/
The gardening team met on Thursday to organize their focus lead by Brandi (Barrett WW) with teachers Katherine and Roxanne.
This week, we began involving YOU in our team meetings for the very first time. Leah Lavin (Lucy WW, Jake and Charlie EW) was our first parent participant. Astrid shared work from the light projector in the West Wing and there are plans to redesign the space according to observations and input from this meeting.
Leah’s Reflection: “It was amazing. The love and respect you have for each other, for the children and how proud you are of them was amazing. The sense of wonder you have with them when you’re sharing the work. The thought process is cool. The discussions of materials, updating spaces, planning every little detail. Each of you brings your own individuality and teaching style, there’s no one right way and your passions and skills are all embraced. Listening to your process, Astrid, and the supporting anecdotes, then everyone’s interpretation and feedback taught me a lot about parenting! I am so grateful to be a part of it. Thank you.”
Jennifer (Fiona, EW) headed up a great crew of volunteers who set up for Saturday’s BOOK FAIR! It’s going to be really fun with teacher recorded stories to download, live music by Gabe (Luscia, EW) and Barton (NSW alumni dad) and drop off games with Peggy from Gymtastics while you shop (a percentage of the fee goes back to NSW). Pictures next week….
