Last Friday, a small group of children teamed up with our resident gardener, Sarah Pinder (Sam’s mom), and Paola to harvest herbs from the NSW walkway garden. With a little help the children trimmed the herbs and took in the each distinct fragrance.
Basil: “I use that for lemon juice” ~Laurel
Mint: “I know mint because I smelled it in my soap.” ~Dex
Next they prepared the herbs. The children washed the herbs and laid them out to dry. When the time came to sort, we asked how they would identify each herb.
“How about we smell them?” ~Laurel
Laurel and Dex sorted the herbs while Addy and Payton trimmed some more.
“This is hard work.” ~Addy
“I did it!” ~Payton
