“We didn’t do it.” -Fiona reads a poem

Last night, unfortunately at the same time that New Parent Orientation was occurring at NSW, I was attending the Mar Vista City Counsel meeting in support of the children’s concern about their environment.

Last year, the children from NSW met Councilman Bill Rosendahl with their depictions and words about the state of our environment. The Cup Group, facilitated by Flora, worked for months on the children’s concern about littering.  ” They were doing outreach at the Farmer’s Market with their signs and were interviewed by the Argonaut. Bill Rosendahl invited the children to display their signs at a City Hall branch in Mar Vista. Those signs joined an exhibit spurred by one of our sister preschools: Branches Atelier. This exhibit has traveled the country and we’ve joined it’s exhibition in Oregon and Los Angeles.

Fiona, the daughter of Patricia Hunter McGrath – owner and director of Branches Atelier, read M.J.’s poem that started it all: “Trash Talking” in support of Bill 568: a ban on styrofoam that will be in front of Senator Lowenthal. The MVCC approved the proposed letter to Senator Lowenthal and appreciated Fiona’s efforts in supporting the Bill.
